DocPlay Originals

We are excited to announce DocPlay is now commissioning original content.

What we are looking for:

• Episodic content
• 4-6 episodes per project
• 30-60 minutes per episode
• Exclusive access to unique, local stories produced by Australian and/or New Zealand key creatives
• Universal stories that will resonate with international audiences and can be sold to the global market
• Co-production investment partners
• Key genres: true-crime, history, music, indigenous, biography, art, science, sport and food

Please submit your proposals to submissions@docplay.com with a two-page proposal outlining:

• The creative and artistic vision
• What/who is your project about, and why?
• What shape will it take?
• An overview of the creative team’s access to the subject(s) and relationship to subject(s)
• Visual and filmic references
• Total production budget
• Current stage of production and expected delivery

Have a completed project? Submit your Documentary

Please note the following information before sending us your submission:

1. Currently we are only accepting submissions from Australia and New Zealand.
2. To be eligible for consideration, your project must be a completed feature length documentary (over 60 minutes duration) or documentary series of three episodes or more.

As we receive a high volume of submissions, we’re unable to respond to every enquiry. If we are interested in viewing a screener of your film or series, we will contact you within 14 days of the date of your submission to request the screener. If you haven’t heard from us within this 14-day period, unfortunately this will mean that your film or series is not an appropriate fit for the DocPlay platform.

Required Information for Your Submission

To submit your film or series complete the info requested below for each title you would like to submit and email it to: submissions@docplay.com

Please do not attach any additional material to your submissions email. Any attachments will be disregarded and deleted.

Incomplete submissions will not be considered so please make sure you have provided all information requested clearly and accurately.

Include the following information for each title in your submission:

• Title
• Year
• Country
• Type (Feature or Series)
• Duration
• Master Format
• Classification
• Trailer Link
• Website Link
• 1 Paragraph Synopsis
• Festival Screenings
• Awards
• Broadcaster(s) (if applicable)
• Australian and/or NZ Theatrical release date (if applicable)
• Other VOD platforms (if applicable)
